Celebrating 10 Years In Business!

July 1, 2020

Booth Construction was set up 10 years ago this month. They have been a successful ten years but they were built, like so many businesses on a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

At times the husband and wife run business has faced difficult challenges. None less worrisome than the recent Covid-19 outbreak that at times looked like it had the capacity to halt the businesses growth and even threaten its future.

Claire and Phil Booth were relieved to start taking orders and see their business begin to return to some form of normality where others have been less fortunate. Working as a team mean that Claire and Phil pretty much live and breath the business. They try to balance work and family life so they earn their keep but equally get to enjoy some free time away from the stress of owning and running your own company. At times their approach works but like any marriage they have had to come through some interesting differences of opinion at times. Marriage and business are undeniably going strong however so they have clearly learnt to disagree and move on when required.

The business began to give them both a better quality of life and ensure they were around more to see their family grow. Like so many they set out in pursuit of a better quality of life and enjoy a higher level of flexibility. It started with a belief, some savings and a giant leap into the unknown when both Claire and Phil left full time employment to chase their dream. They chased it and caught it.

They have a great local reputation with clients and have always worked hard to resolve issues when they inevitably arise on some projects. They do not walk away from a problem and Claire believes that is where the strength of the company really lies. Their tenacity to follow every project through to a good conclusion and finish them to a high standard so the recommendations keep on coming.

10 years is a landmark achievement that the company as a whole is very happy to achieve this July (2020). They have put the hard work in and learnt to get up when bumps knock you down, always coming back stronger. They never thought they would be fighting their way through a pandemic to mark their 10th anniversary.

Both Phil and Claire feel they owe their success to a strong team. They feel privileged to have loyal workers with them on this journey and are looking forward to another 10 years. The plan is to expand more into commercial projects and keep delivering on their strong existing domestic services.

Their advice to anyone starting their own business is to set boundaries early on regarding a business and personal life balance. It is one hell of a ride, stress levels will hit crisis point at times, so it is important never to lose sight of what you are doing it all for.

A final message from Claire:

“I think it is safe to say 2020 has been one of those years that no one will forget but we have a passion for what we do and a lot of blood sweat and tears have gone into our little company, we are not ready to let go.

We are truly grateful to all our customers if it were not for your custom, we would not be in business 10 years on.

We would also like to thank all the people we work with past and present; we have made some great friends along the way.

Our employees are a big part of our company and feel like our extended family, it is true that you are only as great as the people behind you.”
